Sure, Kalamazoo has a lot of ways to celebrate the holidays (beer), but we know that not every event is one you cam tale the kids to. Here are five great, family friendly way so celebrate the holidays in and around Kalamazoo!

Running from mid-December through just before Christmas, 5pm to 8:30pm, take a walk with the family through a winter wonderland of brilliant light displays, festive decorations, and the unforgettable holiday tree lane. There are winter animal exhibits, a carousel, and so much more! $6 per person, with children under 2-years-old getting in for free. Become a Binder Park Zoo member and save $1 per ticket!


It's well worth the drive out to Christmas Town. Spend a whole afternoon inside Santa's workshop, meet the elves, see the reindeer, and even meet the Big Man, himself! Get your picture taken with The Grinch, the giant toys in the Toy Shop, and, of course, Santa. And don't forget about the ice castle, and your favorite midnight navigator, Rudolph!

Nothing is more magical than Bronson Park during the holidays, especially for the little ones. It's close, it's free, and it's perfect for toddlers whose attention spans are hard to gauge. Grab some hot cocoa and take a stroll through candy cane lined paths, and sparkling trees.


There's something kind of wonderful when eight neighbors get in to the holly jolly spirit. Take the whole family to see Christmas Card Lane, a tradition that has been carried on for over 50 years. Charles Dickens' tale of redemption has been the feature of the New Vic Theatre in Kalamazoo for over 35 years, and is certainly a family tradition. Shows run nearly through the new year with matinee and evening performances available. Tickets go fast, so contact the box office, and make this treasured tale an annual family event.
