Fly Rediscovers His Old Keyboard
Before I got into radio, I enjoyed playing piano and saxophone. I haven't touched either in nearly 20 years. Over the weekend, I got the urge to play around with my old keyboard.
A good reason for the urge is I have been listening to mid 70's era Genesis lots of Tony Banks keyboards on those songs. I cleaned off the dust and fired up my old Casio SK-1 sampling keyboard. If you ever owned one of these you can only play 4 notes at once, so I mostly played solo's on it. It also lets you sample, which I didn't do this time around.
I played around with songs like, "It", "Squonk", "Eleventh Earl Of Mar" and "Behind The Lines" all by Genesis. I was surprised to figure out that I could still play by ear. I don't know if this will re-energize my interest in performing again, but it was fun to mess around with this old keyboard for the first time in years.
