As fall and winter have moved into Michigan, I've found myself inside a lot more, looking for something to occupy my time.

Thankfully, I'm learning the guitar with Fret Zealot and have been able to dedicate even more time to getting better. If you're not familiar, Fret Zealot is a huge online vault of video lessons and tutorials from master teachers. They can show you the basics, advanced skills, tuning, and how to play well-known songs from your favorite musicians. Most videos are 15 to 20 minutes, so you can learn at your own pace and your own schedule.

Fret Zealot's optional light-up fretboard is helping me learn where to put my fingers, and I can play along with the songs already in the app at tempo, or it has a feature that listens to where I am in the song and will slow to my pace.

My time with the lessons and learning songs has almost doubled, which my fingers aren't so happy about, but I know it's for the benefit of being able to play longer and better.

I did have an incident, though, with my upstairs neighbor. I guess he doesn't like me practicing so much after 7 o'clock ... he needs sleep or something?

Regardless, things are still going VERY well with Fret Zealot, and I'm still never bored with its engaging lessons and tips. I could see this being the perfect gift for music lovers (or a gift for yourself), especially since they just released Fret Zealot for bass.
