Gibson: Iconic Brand Hopes to Be Iconic Record Label With Slash

What Orville Gibson started in Kalamazoo 127 years ago, as a maker of musical instruments, added a new dimension on Tuesday, with the creation of a record label, Gibson Records.

And to that end, the new label launches with a partnership with BMG, the world’s fourth-biggest music company. And the first act signed is Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators. The combination has recorded several albums and even won some awards. No release date for this new album has been anounced.

The first release announcing the label is filled with flowery language from Slash. “It's an honor to be the first release on the new Gibson Records. It's a zenith in our partnership for sure and having worked so closely with Gibson for so long, I know they will be a label that genuinely supports their artists creatively. Not just me, but all the artists they choose to work with. It's perfect.”

But knowing that Slash owns over 100 guitars, and was instrumental in bringing the Gibson Les Paul back into the spotlight, makes this sound like a natural partnership. And Slash has also been working on seventeen signature Les Paul model projects with Gibson since 1997.

And anything that bring the world more good rock and roll is certainly worth following.
