Next Weekend is the Consumers Energy 400 at Michigan International Speedway. The speedway announced who the grand marshal and starter will be for the race. 

According to the release from M.I.S,  the Grand Marshal is Jackson County teacher of the year, Carmel McDonald.   The honorary starter will be Michigan hero, Patrick Huffman.

McDonald is a teacher at Paragon Charter Academy in Jackson and will be the Grand Marshal for the race on Sunday, August 11th.

Huffman will wave the green flag to start the race.  He helped save a life in a burning house as he was going to work in Bay City.

M.I.S.  wanted to give two individuals making a difference in the state to serve as the honorary officials.

Race weekend at M.I.S will feature the Corrigan Oil Truck race on Saturday August 10th and the Consumers Energy 400 on Sunday, August 11th.   You can check out M.I.S. for more details on the weekend events.
