We recently wrote an article about a group in Kalamazoo, which was trying to raise money to put 100 people who are experiencing houseless in a hotel for three days over the Christmas holiday.

We can happily provide an update to the story, as enough money has been raised to accomplish their mission.

Over the next six days, volunteers will be helping out people experiencing houseless this in Kalamazoo by organizing the donations, picking up the people in need and taking them to the hotels, as well as providing transportation for them to the laundromat so they can do their laundry.

Many small acts of kindness have added up to the success of this mission, and the organizer shared many success stories stemming from this mission in prior years:

Last year we had some beautiful things happen, including a baby boy born, safely in the hospital, just in the nick of time to be delivered at the hospital. [She] could have been born in a tent last year, in the wee hours of the day after Christmas.

The mission has also led to people changing their lives for the better as well:

Some of you may remember me sharing a note last year that someone had written as a thank you- that note simply said that because of heads and beds and the love that they felt, they decided they needed to love themselves and get sober. Another one of the best Christmas gifts I could've ever received.

Hats off to everyone who donated or volunteered for this. They're still accepting and looking for volunteers who can take a few hours out of their day, that can sign up here.
