I remember there was a catalog way back in the day we got called Bud K where you could order all sorts of weapons like stun guns, ninja blades and display weapons. That magazine is no longer available in Michigan, but did make me wonder what weapons are actually illegal to own here.

It turns out there are a lot of different weapons that could land you in hot water if you're caught with them, as one law firm indicates:

Michigan gun laws criminalize the possession of certain weapons, even if you are a law-abiding citizen who has a valid concealed pistol license (CPL). Possessing these illegal weapons can be met with felony charges and serious penalties.

About Those Penalties...

There's something to be said about the risk you take having any of these illegal weapons in your possession. I was talking about that catalog, and even when it was available, you couldn't get the stun guns or tasers shipped to your house in Michigan. How anyone can even find weapons like this is beyond me.

Maybe because I'm not a big weapons guy, to begin with, I just have zero clue how people get to a place where they even know a guy to get these. Regardless, you can face heavy fines in the hundreds of thousands of dollars and prison time if you're caught with any of them.

The Michigan Penal Code For Firearms goes into great detail about the legality of the following items:
