Jack Black Says He’s Cancelling All Tenacious D Shows, Including Michigan After Trump Comments
One of the most triumphant concerts returns to Michigan in a very long time. Seems that it may be cut short over comments that were made over the weekend at a Tenacious D show. Tenacious D was playing the ICC Sydney Theater in Australia on Saturday, July 13, shortly after the former president was shot at in Pennsylvania during a rally earlier in the day.
The day also landed a day before Kyle Gass, Jack Black's Tenacious D partner’s 64th birthday. To celebrate the day, Jack Black brought a cake out to Kyle and told him to make a wish, and the response that Kyle gave as he blew out the candles was "Don’t miss Trump next time."

The reaction in the crowd seemed to go many different ways, but in general, everybody thought the joke was in very bad taste. Now it seems that the Tenacious D concert that was supposed to be coming to Kalamazoo after many years of waiting will be canceled along with the other tours as Jack Black has made an announcement on his Instagram, which says the following.
I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone speech or encourage political violence in any form. After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.
Nothing official has been announced yet by the Wings Event Center, however, we have reached out to them for comment. Tenacious D’s management hasn't officially announced anything, but it would seem as though considering Jack Black is the leader of Tenacious D, or one of the two members, the cancellation is pretty much ironclad at this point. As soon as we hear something or an official announcement, we will update you.
