There are so many iconic burger restaurants that have yet to make their way to Michigan. One of the biggest ones which is more prominent in the south, is Whataburger. I would actually be shocked if we ever get one of these locations in Michigan.

But there’s a burger place that has primarily focused on the west side of the country, which is slowly making its way over. It was recently announced that Jack-in-the-Box would be expanding in Illinois after being a business for 40 years.

This is by no means the first restaurant of its kind in the state, as this will be the 16th location in Illinois. But it is important to know that Indiana has one location in Indianapolis, and Ohio has two locations in Cincinnati and West Chester.

But what about Michigan?

Well, Michigan may be getting close to its very first location, in fact the franchise has worked out a deal to bring five stores to the metro Detroit area. Not only that, but it looks as though, according to chainstoreage.com, there will also be restaurants in the Grand Rapids area as well.

Van Ingram, the vice president of franchise development at Jack-in-the-Box, expressed his excitement to expand to Michigan:

We are delighted to welcome Maan Almansour and Andi Kareem to our growing franchise family in Michigan. Their passion for the restaurant industry and deep understanding of the Detroit market make them ideal partners to bring our brand to this vibrant city.

We're still waiting on confirmation as to when these locations will open.
