Kalamazoo Invites You To Shape Michigan Avenue’s Future
The city of Kalamazoo is inviting residents to join them on Tuesday, April 28, as they will be reviewing a much broader picture of what Michigan Avenue will look like as a two-way road.
They have released an artist rendering showing the updated landscape downtown and just how different the road will look once traffic is going in both directions.

In a Facebook post, they urge residents to come out to the “from plans to place” open house, which will be held at the Catalyst Center at 180 Water Street from 5 PM until 7 PM:
Join us at the From Plans to Place Open House to explore a full simulation of what it will be like to experience Michigan Avenue as it becomes part of a people-focused, two-way traffic network. You’ll get a closer look at key projects shaping downtown, including plans for Arcadia Creek Festival Place and placemaking improvements designed to create more vibrant, welcoming public spaces.
As with most things in life. There are a lot of people who support this new idea of two-way traffic in downtown Kalamazoo, while others are sharing their concerns or grievances in the comment section.
The city still has a lot of work to do, and hopefully, removing eastbound traffic lanes on Michigan Avenue won’t jam up downtown too badly.
You can also get the latest updates on downtown street improvements, see how Michigan Avenue and other corridors will function in the future, and ask questions while sharing your perspective. Downtown Kalamazoo is evolving, and these changes will create a better experience for everyone who lives, works, and spends time here.
