Local Muffin Company Love Muffins Bakes Comeback With Slices By Shae

Love Muffins, the homemade muffin company that once thrived in Portage, has now returned with a new partnership.

Eileen Pawlicki created Love Muffins inspired by her late mother's legacy of baking in the area, but over the last five years, she has faced many challenges and ups and downs, not only in business but in personal health as well. But her persistence has led to a new partnership with Shae Turner, who owns Slices By Shae.

Not only have the two joined forces to bring Love Muffins back, but they’re now also being carried at Midtown Fresh, located off of Westnedge, which is fitting, as Eileen recently commented on how crucial it was to partner with Shae:

What makes this partnership especially meaningful is that Midtown Fresh was the very first store to carry Love Muffins six years ago. Returning there with slices by Shae feels like coming home while also beginning an exciting new chapter.

Shae Turner has also climbed a mountain of personal struggles, and through Slices by Shae has found her calling and a way to express herself and give people something to enjoy. She told me how she initially started her business, after working odd jobs that just didn't feel right:

Long story short, I severely injured my back, and I couldn't return to the job I had for 10 years. I ended up making myself a tres leches cake for my birthday and having a conversation with the owner of Ty's Joint about it being both of our favorites. He was the one who encouraged me to begin a professional journey, and it was actually my first location.

Fast forward to now, she's learning more about her craft and making meaningful connections in the community.

You can find Loves Muffins & Slices by Shae at Midtown Fresh at 1693 S Westnedge Ave, Kalamazoo.
