With weather being as unpredictable as it is in general, it’s hard to say when Michigan’s next big snowstorm will be. But with Christmas now officially over, I think we could all admit that we would like at least a little snow in Southwest Michigan.

It looked roughly the same outside yesterday as it did in 2023, except there was about a 35° difference. If I’m being honest, the cold weather and the minimal amount of snow left on the ground or enough to give Southwest Michigan a Christmas grade of C - in my book.

But for those of us who are eagerly awaiting the snow to come, the National Weather Service feels much like the farmer's almanac, in that they feel that we are about to get a stretch of weather that will bring consistent snow and cold temperatures to Michigan.
They recently released a graph back on December 19 showing the precipitation outlook for the next 30 days, showing that Michigan was trending above normal precipitation levels for the set time period.
It was roughly 30% higher than normal, showing consistent cold weather should be taking over next month. It would be enough to make good conditions for now. Even the farmers almanac themselves feel the strongest snowstorms will be hitting at the end of the winter months, with strong storms in January and February.
So let’s keep our fingers crossed and keep our eye on the radar because even though winter is just starting, you could pretty much bet the snow is as well.
