There’s nothing worse than driving down the road and at the very last second seeing that you’re about to drive over a massive pothole. It’s at this time that you close your eyes, clean your fists around the steering wheel, and pray to whatever God it is that you pray to that whatever is about to happen next doesn’t involve thousands of dollars of car repairs.

Sadly, for a lot of us, that’s a grim reality about driving pretty much anywhere in Michigan, as the pothole situation continues to be a yearly issue.

But there are now ways that you can wipe the sweat off your brow and know that the state of Michigan is looking out for those who have faced Damages to their cars because of potholes. In fact, they’re gonna go ahead and cover the entire bill, thanks to the pothole payback contest.

Currently right now through the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association, known as MITA, drivers can get financial help for their car repairs.

The program is already underway and running until June, and MITA is giving five drivers a month up to $758, and all you need to do is fill out the entry for the contest here, and provide basic information about the damage that occurred with some pictures along with the receipt or an estimate for the repairs and that’s all you need.

When asked by Fox 17 about how this contest has been received, the executive vice president of MITA Rob Coppersmith was excited to share the results:

Overwhelming, I think the first night that we put it out, it's one of those things that gets shared quite a bit, within an hour we had 30 or 40 entries
