It doesn't happen very often that we get one of the best blues guitar men ever in Grand Rapids, but we will soon. Joe Bonamassa, Blues-rock superstar, three-time GRAMMY-nominee, and one of the most celebrated performing musicians today will play DeVos Performance Hall in February. I know, that's a bit of a wait, but it will be well worth it, and with tickets going on sale this Friday, it's something you will want to jump on right away!

Bonamassa is not one of your overnight sensations because he started playing guitar at the age of four. His father, who was an avid music fan, and young Joe listened to British blues rock records by Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, and by the age of 11,  Bonamassa was being trained by American guitar legend Danny Gatton. When he was 12 years old, he had his own band called Smokin' Joe Bonamassa. And from there on, it was only upward.

He used to open for B.B. King in the late 80s, and was on the the Mickey Mouse Club, he's in the Hall of Fame there, and before he was 18 had formed another band called Bloodline. Bloodline didn't hit it very big, but people noticed that this kid had something and many were saying his "guitar chops" were amazing. The rest is history.
