One of Best Blues Concerts is About to Come to Grand Rapids
It doesn't happen very often that we get one of the best blues guitar men ever in Grand Rapids, but we will soon. Joe Bonamassa, Blues-rock superstar, three-time GRAMMY-nominee, and one of the most celebrated performing musicians today will play DeVos Performance Hall in February. I know, that's a bit of a wait, but it will be well worth it, and with tickets going on sale this Friday, it's something you will want to jump on right away!
Guitar World has said that Bonamassa is “arguably the world’s biggest blues guitarist,” and the date to save on your calendar is Friday, February 24, DeVos Performance Hall. And those tickets go on sale this Friday, July 29 at 10AM!
Bonamassa is not one of your overnight sensations because he started playing guitar at the age of four. His father, who was an avid music fan, and young Joe listened to British blues rock records by Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, and by the age of 11, Bonamassa was being trained by American guitar legend Danny Gatton. When he was 12 years old, he had his own band called Smokin' Joe Bonamassa. And from there on, it was only upward.
He used to open for B.B. King in the late 80s, and was on the the Mickey Mouse Club, he's in the Hall of Fame there, and before he was 18 had formed another band called Bloodline. Bloodline didn't hit it very big, but people noticed that this kid had something and many were saying his "guitar chops" were amazing. The rest is history.
Joe Bonamassa is only 45, but has already become a blues guitar legend, so if the Blues are your thing, start lining up now. You don't want to miss Joe Bonamassa in February at DeVos Performance Hall!
