Classic cars are not strictly an American hobby. A Kalamazoo couple sold a French collector their 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass- "a super belle machine."

There is a Facebook group for everything, and a member of the Organisation de rassemblement auto en Touraine was excited to show off his new ride: a 1972 Cutlass. Pardonnez-moi? You don't have to remember much from that high school French class to figure out that the "organisation de rassemblement auto" is a car club. Specifically, a car club in a Western providence of France called "Touraine."

I wouldn't say France is world-famous for cars. Wine, yes. Automobiles, no. (Does anyone remember Le Car?) Nonetheless, the country that builds Renaults, Peugeots, and Citroens loves custom cars almost as much as Americans. Also, it seems, they love American cars. Denis Loiseau shared photos of his prized possession: a restored 1972 Cutlass. Loiseau got it from the original owners: a couple from Kalamazoo. This 42 year old car has a new home almost 4,000 miles away, across the Atlantic Ocean.

This Lansing, Michigan creation has emigrated from Kalamazoo, famous for the outdoor pedestrian mall, the Gibson guitar and Checker cab to Touraine, a city called "the Garden of France" because kings liked to vacation there. It turns out the people in the birthplace of Rene Descartes, one of the founders of modern philosophy, the man who said "I think, therefore I am," love to go fast as much as the rest of us.
