Local Favorite Antique Kitchen Closes But Will Reopen Under New Management
Sunday night, without any warning, the Antique Kitchen informed their employees, who then, in turn, informed their guests that Sunday would be the very last day that they would be open.
After 50 years, it seemed as though the Antique Kitchen was going to be closing for good. Now it seems that they will be reopening under new management.

A sign was apparently placed on the door of Antique Kitchen, claiming that they would soon be reopening under new ownership
This was a relief for many people, because for the longest time, many people made Antique Kitchen their go-to spot in Portage. Many people believed that because of the new Kroger that is going to be built on Westnedge, Antique Kitchen was one of the places that was going to be closing to make way for the new grocery store.
That does not seem to be the case, as there is no evidence that Kroger had even purchased the building, or that there were plans to sell it to begin with.
In a Facebook post, which shows the sign alluding to new management, many people expressed relief that they would be reopening instead of closing for good.
It's been almost 3 years since one of the original owners, Gary, made a sentimental post on Facebook, announcing he'd be selling the business:
After nearly 37 years of being the owner of Antique Kitchen I have decided to retire. I have sold the restaurant to a good friend of mine, whom I have no doubt will do an amazing job! I want to thank you all! Family, friends and co-workers and the best customers ever. It’s been a pleasure getting to know so many of you and spending my days with you.
