Red Wings To Pay Tribute To Gordie Howe On Opening Night At The Joe
The Detroit Red Wings will pay tribute to "Mr. Hockey", Gordie Howe, on opening night, October 17th, and throughout the season.
NHL.com reports a tribute ceremony is planned ahead of home opener game vs. Ottawa. In addition, fans attending the game will receive a Gordie Howe poster.
As far as season-long remembrance, there will be large number "9" 's painted into the ice behind each goal. The Red Wings will also where commemorative "9" on their sweaters throughout the season.
Howe died June 10th at the age of 88.
