This year was one of the worst ever in Detroit Tigers history.  Remember when they were one of the best teams and had one of the best hitters in the game?

The Tigers posted on Twitter that today (October 3rd) is the anniversary of Miguel Cabrera becoming the first player to win the triple crown since Carl Yastrzemski in 1967.   It was in 2012 and Cabrera picked up the crown by hitting .330, 44 home runs and 139 RBI's.

I remember watching the game and seeing the standing ovation that the fans in Kansas City gave to him as he was taken out of the game.   One of the great moments in recent Tigers history.

It is sad to see where Miguel is now compared  to where he was 7 years ago but it was great to watch him accomplish what has  since becoming a Tiger.   As he continues his career, it will be interesting to see what he can do for the rebuilding Tigers.

He is already a hall of fame player but can he get to 500 home runs and 3,000 hits?
