The best thing you can do as a radio station is to make an impact in your community and make a difference in their lives. After all, radio is a public service and personally, I got into this industry to entertain and help people in every way I could. 1077 RKR, which is licensed in Portage, Battle Creek, and Kalamazoo, has been around for now more than 35 years and has a long-standing history with the people in this community.

The radio station itself must’ve made some kind of an impact because a local man reached out to us recently, letting us know that he wanted to continue a tradition that was started by his dad, whether it was intentional or not. J

Jake Mendham recently welcomed his new son into the world, much like he did with his father. But back when Jake was born there is a photo of Jake’s dad holding him as an infant wearing a 1077 RKR T-shirt. Jake asked for a T-shirt of his own so he could replicate the photo once his son was born.

Our coworker Theresa is a crafter and thought she would do, one better, as she made a baby onesie with the 1077 RKR logo on it. We also continued the tradition by providing Jake with a T-shirt with our logo on it.

Below, you can see both photos and help us congratulate him on the birth of his new son. It means so much to us that Jake reached out and made our station one of the first parts of his newborn son’s life. We wish Jake and his family and his new son, the best of health and happiness and look forward to hopefully hearing from his son in 20+ years for another shirt for his baby.

It means so much to us you gave such a touching tribute to your dad, and that we could be a part of that.
