One of Michigan’s Most Beloved Restaurants Announces They’re Closing
Over the past few years, the city of Kalamazoo has seen some closures of places that were favorites amongst the community. It was shocking when we found out that Old Dog would be closing its doors as it considered its future and what would become of the popular establishment.
Now it’s been announced that another local favorite will close after 15 years. Late in the evening on February 18, Rugger’s Up and Under in downtown Kalamazoo announced that they would be closing their doors for good on March 15th. In a heartfelt goodbye announcement that they made on their Facebook, They let the community know just how much they appreciated, making them a staple business in the city:

We want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported us over the years–our loyal customers, dedicated employees, the Kalamazoo Rugby Clubs, and the incredible community we have been privileged to serve. Thank you for being a part of our story.
You also have to tip your hat to the owners because, as one employee mentioned in another Facebook post reporting about the closing, the owners have given their staff plenty of time to consider their future:
The owners and managers have been so good to us employees over the years. They showed respect in giving us lots of time to say goodbye and figure out what's next. We still have great food, cheap drinks, and some events planned. We love you all, come say goodbye to us, we will be serving you until the END!
