Find Safe Shrimp Alternatives After Walmart’s Recent Recall
Radioactive shrimp are everywhere across the country, as Walmart has recalled potentially radioactive shrimp across 12 different states. But there are plenty of places around Southwest Michigan, where you can get shrimp that isn’t radioactive. Over the last few days, we’ve seen a lot of funny memes floating around social media about people eating the glowing shrimp at Walmart.
The FDA put out a warning that three Great Value products should be returned:

* Great Value brand frozen raw shrimp, lot code: 8005540-1, Best by Date: March 15, 2027
* Great Value brand frozen raw shrimp, lot code: 8005538-1, Best by Date: March 15, 2027
* Great Value brand frozen raw shrimp, lot code: 8005539-1, Best by Date: March 15, 2027
Do Michigan Walmart's Have Radioactive Shrimp?
Luckily, for Michigan we were not included as one of the 12 states to be affected by this recall. The stores affected our Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, and West Virginia, Virginia, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
But as I mentioned before, there are plenty of places in Michigan, but you don’t have to worry about the shrimp being radioactive; there are some great locally owned businesses that own shrimp, that could definitely use your business.
Even if Michigan isn’t listed as one of the states with radioactive shrimp, here are some places that have not been contaminated with Cesium – 137, the radioactive isotope:
