There was a lot of hype for Saugatuck Brewing Company when they announced they would be moving into the historic building off E. Michigan Ave.. in downtown Kalamazoo.

Unfortunately, in late 2024, there was a fire that broke out in the upper part of the building, which shut down operations indefinitely. Unfortunately, it is now been announced that Saugatuck Brewing will close not only their downtown Kalamazoo location but also another location they own.

In an emotional Facebook post, Saugatuck Brewing gave a heartfelt thank you to the community as they announced that they would be permanently closing at 200 E. Michigan Ave.
Dear Friends, We are writing to share bittersweet news regarding our Kalamazoo taproom. After the fire and much thought and consideration, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close the doors of our Kalamazoo location. This wasn’t an easy choice for us, as the Kalamazoo community has been home to many special moments over the years.

It was also announced that they’re closing the Creston Brewery, which, according to a former employee, came without warning:

Creston Brewery has permanently closed without any forewarning to us as employees. No two week notice, or warning to get our affairs in order. Just a last minute weekend meeting to notify us all that we are let go. Saugatuck could’ve done the decent thing and notified us earlier, but they didn’t. Classless.

There's been no word from Saugatuck Brewing Company owners who initiated the closure as to why staff at Creston wasn't given the heads up about closing.

Are These The Next Malls In Fear of Closing For Good?
