How often do you hear about two people who are best friends who jokingly make a pact that if they are both single by a certain age, they will just end up marrying each other so that neither one of them has to be alone?

I remember one time this girl approached me with the same scenario, and I felt completely disrespected, considering she was in a terrible relationship, and that she felt I was going to need to resort to marrying out of desperation, while only 27.

It makes for a cute Hallmark movie, but rarely does that ever happen.
But a woman in Detroit and her best friend of almost 32 years committed that by the time they turned 45, if they were not married, they would marry each other. As she pointed out, they will both be 45 next year.
We went to middle school and high school together and have been friends ever since. We have never slept together and know each other more than anyone.
The marriage is no doubt about the commitment, but also the fact that they really do care about each other:
I will lay my life down for him and vice versa. He has always been my soulmate before we even thought about marriage because he is one of a kind and one loyal man.
The two set the date for June 8, 2025. Do you think an arrangement like this will work? I doubt the two will find anyone who knows each other better, and hope the marriage is successful.
