Star Trek: The Motion Picture has prospered and lived long to mark its 40th anniversary. You only have to travel 2.6 parsecs to see a special screening.

Creater Gene Roddenberry wrote the script, and IMDB outlines the plot of the first big screen iteration of the Star Trek franchise. "When an alien spacecraft of enormous power is spotted approaching Earth, Admiral James T. Kirk resumes command of the overhauled USS Enterprise in order to intercept it." The original television cast stars in the film as William Shatner, Leonard Nemoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, George Takei and Nichelle Nichols reprise their roles as Captain Kirk, Spock, Scotty, Sulu and Uhura.
