Kalamazoo Marathon

It was about a month ago that we got word that big changes were ahead for the Kalamazoo Marathon. What started out as simply as the Borgess Run for the Health Of It, is getting a new sponsor and some new venues for this year's events.

A major change to a major Springtime event. Zeigler Auto Group is now the title sponsor of the Kalamazoo Marathon. For 2022 there will be no full 26.2 mile marathon. And new locations for many events.

Sure, you like your beer, but you could run a 5k...in a week. The 2021 Oberon 5k is a virtual run to celebrate summer. No training required.

This is not the news the community wanted to hear...

Social-distancing runners can still run 26.2 miles and compete in the 2020 virtual Kalamazoo Marathon.

Participants have received emails with this refund information. Some runners may wish to donate their refund to our children’s charities or our charitable work through the Ascension Borgess Foundation to provide medical treatment and relief efforts associated with the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic.

It may be a little late to start training for the Kalamazoo Marathon, but it's not too late to volunteer! From pre-race help to registration, running the Tent City to clean up, the Borgess Run needs more than 1,500 volunteers to be successful. Sign up solo or get a group together and be a part of this year's festivities (and snag a free t-shirt as a thank you!).

Borgess is offering a free cardiac field test and healthy heart screening to runners and spectators at the Kalamazoo Marathon expo.
