No. 1 Most Underrated & Affordable U.S. Adventure Spot Is In Michigan
Yahoo Travel came up with a list of the most underrated and affordable U.S. adventure spots.
It's probably no surprise to most Michiganders — or people who've traveled there — that the Upper Peninsula in Michigan came in at No. 1!
The Upper Peninsula is home to all but one of Michigan’s waterfalls. There are more than 300 falls scattered across the U.P.
You can explore the depths of a mine, a shipwreck, gamble at one of 10 casinos, climb to the top of a lighthouse, and explore a colonial fort. And according to the U.P.'s tourism website, U.P. Travel, "that’s just for starters."
The choices for recreation are seemingly endless. You can play golf, hike, fish, kayak, swim, ski and drive a snowmobile! There are plenty of places to stay between casino lodging, RV parks, or nearby hotels (many with special packages).
"Browse our shops for handmade jewelry and one-of-a-kind art, clothing and specialty items. Then get your taste buds ready for the world’s best fudge, fresh-from-the-lake whitefish, and our world-famous pasties," U.P. Travel's website stated.
I've heard of the U.P., but I never knew that it was a hidden gem! I'm going to start planning my trip ASAP. Let me know in the comments if there are any must-see spots for my U.P. bucket list!
