A Vietnam memorial featuring actual Huey helicopters that served in combat in Vietnam, along with the Vietnam Veterans Memorial replica, will be set up in Battle Creek this month.

The Wall That Heals, which is the Vietnam veterans memorial replica and mobile education center is bringing a program of the Vietnam veterans memorial fund of founders of the wall to Harper Creek High School at 7290 B Dr. N. in Battle Creek at the soccer field complex from August 20 through the 23rd where, free to the public, a Vietnam veterans memorial replica will be able to be visited for viewing 24 hours a day.

The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Wednesday, August 19 at 5:45 PM, and a welcome home ceremony is scheduled the following morning at 10 AM. At that point, the wall will be available to view 24 hours a day until Sunday, August 23 at 2 PM.

The Vietnam War is one of the most controversial and divisive wars we as the United States have been a part of since the Civil War, which spanned 3 decades and 5 U.S. presidents, and tore the nation apart. Veterans were never properly welcomed home and instead treated as enemies by many, so this is a good way to give them the proper "Welcome home."

Not only that, but legendary Huey helicopters that served in combat in Vietnam will be landing at the American Legion Post 257 on the corner of Beckley and Beadle Lake Rd on August 21 22nd, and 23rd, according to a Facebook post from the city of Springfield:

Please be advised that these historic aircraft will be in operation, flying in and out of post 527, during the following hours: Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday from 9:00 AM to 6 PM, and Sunday from 9 AM to 3 PM. You are invited to visit the Hueys, meet the crew, and capture memorable moments around these historic aircraft during these hours free of charge. Don’t forget to bring your cameras.
