Parents In Michigan Warned About Dangers Of New WIZZ App
Parents in Michigan need to be aware of a new app that opens up the possibility of their children being exposed to online predators, and a Michigan sheriff's office is putting out the alert on the dangers this app can pose to their families.
The app is called WIZZ, and most recently, the Oakland County sheriff's office was made aware of the app and wanted to warn the public about this potentially dangerous app.

In a Facebook post, they alerted some of the risks involved in your children using the app.
We want to alert parents about the growing use of the social app Wizz among minors. The app allows children to connect and chat with unknown individuals, creating significant risks, including:
• Contact from adults posing as teens
• Requests for photos or personal information
• Grooming, scams, and sextortion attempts

How Does the WIZZ App Work?
Wizz functions much like a swipe-based dating app, with no reliable age verification and limited parental oversight. Parents are strongly encouraged to check their child’s devices, talk with them about safe online behavior, and report any suspicious activity immediately. Your awareness and involvement are key to keeping kids safe online.
According to the app, however, they claim they're doing the most they can to keep kids protected:
Safety is our top priority at Wizz. To create an account on the Wizz app, we require your birth date and a clear face scan to verify your age through our industry-leading biometric age verification system. This step ensures that your chats on the Wizz app are always genuine. On top of age verification, the Wizz app's extensive content moderation tools, team, and robust processes work together to create a secure platform.
They also claim to educate young adults on safety online. This is one of many platforms that online predators will use to prey on minors and children alike, and will no doubt be monitored by predator catchers, hopefully busting more people trying to bring harm to families.
