If You’re From Ohio & Use Cash App, You Could Get Back $2,500 For Class-Action Lawsuit
There are tons of different ways you can make payments to someone now. Everything from digital transfer apps like PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, and other parties make it very easy not only to transfer your money to someone you know but for cybercriminals to gain access to those accounts and potentially make fraudulent charges on your account.
It's a situation we never want to find ourselves in, but it does happen. Luckily if you're from Ohio or Michigan, and have been using the Cash App service in the past, and noticed fraudulent transactions, you may be entitled to up to $2,500 because of a new class action lawsuit.
As CachAppSecuritySettlement documents, Salinas, et al. v. Block, Inc. and Cash App Investing, LLC, Case No. 22-cv-04823 is attempting to reimburse those who have had strange transactions pop up on the app, causing them to lose money:
The proposed settlement would resolve a lawsuit that alleges that Block, Inc. (“Block”) and Cash App Investing, LLC (“Cash App Investing”) were negligent, made misrepresentations, and breached other obligations to their users in connection with (1) a data security incident that Cash App Investing disclosed in April 2022, (2) a data security incident that Block disclosed in October 2023, and (3) alleged unauthorized, and fraudulent withdrawals and transfers of funds to or from, and complaint and error resolution processes associated with, Cash App accounts and linked accounts.
How to Get Compensation & File A Claim?
It's important to note that if you file a claim here, you must include proof of payment for out-of-pocket losses, lost time, or transaction losses from this Settlement. A completed Claim Form must be submitted no later than November 18, 2024.
