Chaos On Colman Street Is Skipping 2026 And Nobody Knows Why

Residents in Clinton Township are furious after organizers of the Chaos on Colman Street have announced that because of complaints that they received from the township, they will not be doing the annual Halloween event in 2026.

The future of a massive neighborhood Halloween display is in jeopardy after years of drawing thousands of people to the neighborhood and raising thousands of dollars for charity.

Now this year, Coleman Street, whose events have raised almost $85,000 for five nonprofits according to organizers Matthew Gregory and Jaclyn Dotson, will be empty. WXYZ interviewed the organizers about the complaints that they’ve been receiving and why the event will be happening this year:

The supervisor told us there were multiple complaints against us, and we wanted to know what they were so we could address them, but he wouldn’t tell us, so we are in limbo on what we wanna do, don’t wanna cause extra problems.

There are some who have said that, although the decorations are fun, it can be a bit overwhelming for people who live in the nearby community.

The Clinton Township board hasn’t taken any action against the event or the homeowners who organize it, so as of right now, the event is still set to take place in 2027, but nobody knows what the future will look like for the event quite yet. It seems as though a lack of proper communication will deter them from holding the event this year.

They have to know that people coming into town for the display will also be spending money in town as well. It seems like a lose-lose.
