This Weekend is The Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway.  Since 2009, I have made my way to the track for the August race.  There are many events that happening during a race weekend, here are five things I look forward to seeing the most race weekend.

The Grandmarshal

I am always interesting in who the grand marshal is for the race.  It seems that every year it is someone that is from Michigan or has Michigan roots.  This year it is Detroit Red Wings coach, Jeff Blashill.

The Wave

Before the start of the race,  M.I.S gets the fans to do the wave.   It looks cool in baseball, but just think how it looks going up and down the straight away along the race track very cool.

Race Atmosphere

I'll admit that I am not a die hard NASCAR fan.  I am a casual fan so I don't  that involved into every race.   I am interested though in the overall atmosphere of what goes on at the track  from the drivers to the fans in attendance. One thing I still haven't experienced is the pits.  Hopefully someday I will get to check out.

Fan Plaza

This is the area that is set up outside the track.  It not only has all the drivers and NASCAR merchandise but also food, promotional booths and in recent years I have noticed a cool motorcross  show that is worth watching before heading in to your seat.

Driver Introductions

I wish whatever network airs the race would show these more.   It is cool to be introduced to the drivers especially the guys who are usually found in the back of the pack.   I also  like to hear the fan reaction to which ever driver is announced.

The Speed Of The Track

Michigan International Speedway says it is NASCAR's fastest track and that is one of the things I like to watch for at each race I attend.  How fast can these cars actually go?
