In the (Re)Beginning: Where to See the Genesis Reunion Concert

Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks will kickoff the Genesis reunion tour in Chicago and play a Detroit show. If only we could get them to stop halfway.

The big announcement of the Genesis reunion was eclipsed by a global pandemic of Biblical proportions. Now, the reunited lineup of the most commercially successful era of the band will turn it on again and finally begin the long-awaited trek as Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks begin The Last Domino? tour.

Alas, Peter Gabriel declined an invitation to rejoin the lineup (they asked him and got no reply at all) and guitarist Steve Hackett has been mostly estranged from the band since 1977 (a misunderstanding?). Collins' health issues have been well documented, including partial hearing loss and the inability to play drums. His son Nic will sit behind the drum kit for the tour. Think of it as a different translation of the scripture- King James vs NIV.

North American fans were disappointed to hear the original reunion dates announced in 2020 were only for the U.K. and Ireland, but now a U.S. leg will run from November 15- December 15, kicking off in nearby Chicago, at the United Center. A Detroit show is booked at Little Caesar's Arena on November 29, giving Kalamazoo Genesis fans two chances to see the band by driving less than 2 1/2 hours.

Genesis played Wings Stadium back in 1978 on the ...And then There Were Three tour. Tickets cost $7.50. You'll be lucky if that buys you a beer this time.
