The Growlers were an unsuspecting team this season. Staying just under the radar of excellence, and winning decisive games when they needed, they scratched and clawed their way into a secure playoff spot this season.

From there, it was all grit and grind (plus some awesome hitters and pitching abilities) that brought them to where we are now. The Growlers will be playing for their second Northwoods League Championship in three years, and this time... it's on their home turf.

Thursday night (August 15th), the Growlers will host the Northwoods League Championship Game at Homer Stryker Field, which only a month ago, was under about a foot or more of water, thanks to the Kalamazoo River.

This is the first time ever that Homer Stryker Field will host the Championship game, following the Growlers tight 3-2 win over the Madison Mallards on Wednesday night - a team that was heavily favored to win.

Now, the Growlers have their sights set on the 'Ship once again, and the road runs right through Kalamazoo.

They will take on the La Crosse Loggers, out of La Crosse, Wisconsin, who actually finished with a LOSING record of 34-37 in their season. They managed to eek out a playoff run similar to the Growlers' comeback season two years ago following a disastrous second-half to the season.

So take from that a lesson, that a team on a hot streak with nothing to lose can be a dangerous thing.

The first pitch Thursday Night is set for 6:35 ET, and if you'd like to get tickets, they can be found on the Growlers' website. Gates will open at 5:35.

This is a monumental moment for the Growlers, and a great opportunity for you to show up and support our team in person to win the Northwoods Championship Game!

GO GROWLERS!!!
