He's a 6 time Grammy winner, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 100 million records worldwide, James Taylor is coming to Grand Rapids.
James Taylor will be performing at Van Andel Arena on Dec 10 at 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased here. Jackson Browne is also a special guest on the ticket.
Taylor's Greatest Hits album released in 1976 was certified Diamond and has sold 12 million US copies. The album features perennial hits like, "Fire and Rain" and "You've Got A Friend". Every album released by Taylor since 1977 has sold over 1 million copies. In 2015, Sweet Baby was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom By President Obama.
It was in Laurel Canyon that James Taylor and Jackson Browne met. Often called "the standard bearer for the singer/songwriter movement of the 70's", Jackson Browne is in both the Rock And Roll and Songwriters Hall Of Fame's. His song "Somebody’s Baby” was his highest-charting single, hitting No. 7 on the Hot 100 and remaining on the chart for 19 weeks. Other favorites include "The Load-Out", "Doctor My Eyes" and "Running On Empty".
Jackson Browne was one of the first musicians to publicly announce he had COVID, albeit by accident. He was rescheduling a Zoom interview with Rolling Stone magazine when he mentioned he was sick. After some tour date cancellations last year, both artists are healthy now.
The feature-length documentary The Story of Plastic has been nominated for an Emmy Award in the Outstanding Writing: Documentary category and it features Jackson Browne's song, "Downhill From Everywhere."
