People living in Kingston Township near M-46 may have a strange smell of dairy air for the next few days, as there has been a massive milk spill. Early in the morning on Tuesday, August 5 of M 46, Near Phillips Rd., over 12,000 gallons of milk were spilled and went right into a drainage ditch after a truck that was carrying it was involved in a severe crash, causing it to roll over multiple times off-road.

Luckily, officials were able to bring in sand and dam the river of milk that was flowing into the drainage ditch.

However, even though it is milk, it will require a certain level of environmental cleanup.

This is nowhere near as bad as the Kalamazoo River oil spill back in July 2010, when a pipeline operated by Enbridge burst and flowed into Talmage Creek, basically ruining the Kalamazoo River.

Although it does fall in line with another funny story that recently happened, where frozen hot dogs were spilled all over the Pennsylvania highway on Interstate 83, after a truckload carrying these things was involved in a crash and caused a massive cleanup effort on both sides of the highway.

There’s an investigation going into the crash that spilled the milk, but there’s no use crying over this situation, since the driver only suffered minor injuries, according to Local 4 Detroit.

This isn't the first time milk has spilled from a truck crash in Michigan, as back in 2018, a tanker carrying tens of thousands of milk crashed in Port Huron and caused a major spill that shut down the highway.

Have You Heard Of This Old Lansing Milk Company?

The name of the company is the Lansing Dairy Company. When Michigan was a booming area for locally made products, you probably would've seen a pitcher of milk come to your front door from the Lansing Dairy Co.
