The Steve Miller Band was a perennial summer concert favorite in Detroit. Hear a show this week on Live in Concert that was recorded live in 1982 at Pine Knob.

Steve Miller played his first show in Clarkston on July 11, 1973. For $6 you could get a seat in the pavilion or save $2 and sit under the stars on the lawn at what was then known as Pine Knob Music Theater. Junior Wells and Buddy Guy were the opening acts. FOR FOUR DOLLARS!!! Over the years, the Steve Miller Band has returned to the venue many times, with the most recent show in 2018 with Peter Frampton. Whether you've seen him at Pine Knob, now DTE Energy Music Theater, maybe you saw him at Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids in 2019, or have never seen the Steve Miller Band live, you won't want to miss this show.

In 1982, the band was enjoying a resurgence thanks to the radio hit "Abracadabra." You can see they are having fun on stage. This show, in fact was filmed and included on the video release Welcome to the Vault. It includes rare TV appearances on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, ABC in Concert and live sets shot at  the Monterey Pop Festival, Austin City Limits and Pine Knob.

Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band are on the show this week with a couple of cuts form a 1986 show, plus U2 from '87 and INXS at Wembley Stadium in London, 1991. Unfortunately, it's still going to be a while before we get together in person for concerts, so crank this one up on the radio. Live in Concert every Saturday night at 8, exclusively on Kalamazoo's Rock Station 107.7 RKR.
