he Vancouver Canucks have re-assigned Ludwig Blomstrand from the Utica Comets to the Kalamazoo Wings, the team announced Wednesday.

Blomstrand, 23, has played 15 AHL games since 2013, but has spent the majority of the past two seasons in Kalamazoo. In 99 games with Kalamazoo since 2013, the winger has posted 72 points (47 goals, 25 assists). His 33 goals, 45 points, and 32 PIMs last year were all career highs.

The native of Uppsala, Sweden was a fourth round (120th overall) draft pick of the Vancouver Canucks in 2011. Before making his North American debut with the Chicago Wolves in 2013, Blomstrand played with Djurgardens IF Stockholm (SEL, Sweden) and Almtuna IS (Swe-1, Sweden).

The Comets also announced that Tyler Shattock has been released from his professional tryout, and will join Kalamazoo’s training camp.

Shattock, 25, enters his sixth season of professional hockey and first with Kalamazoo. A 2009 draft pick of the St. Louis Blues (round four, pick 108), Shattock began his pro career in 2010 with the American Hockey League’s Peoria Rivermen. With 258 career AHL games under his belt, Shattock brings experience, toughness, and a scoring touch around the goal.

A native of Vernon, British Columbia, Shattock won a Western Hockey League championship in 2010 with Calgary alongside current teammate Ben Wilson. Last season with the Stockton Thunder, Shattock led the team in assists (40) and points (63), while setting a career mark for penalty minutes with 101.

In a separate transaction, Brett Ponich has been released from his professional tryout with the Chicago Wolves and will also join Kalamazoo’s camp.

Ponich, 24, has appeared in 66 games with Kalamazoo since 2013 and has registered 14 points and 95 PIMs. A second round (48th overall) draft pick of the St. Louis Blues in 2009, the 6-foot-7 defenseman split time with the Springfield Falcons (AHL) and the Wings last season.

The native of Beaumont, Alberta spent 2006-2011 with the Portland Winterhawks in the WHL, and made his professional debut with the Peoria Rivermen (AHL) in 2011. Since turning pro, Ponich has logged 134 games in the AHL (Peoria, Chicago, Springfield) and 84 games in the ECHL (Evansville, Alaska, Kalamazoo).
