Mattawan Teen Faces Long Road of Recovery After Freak Accident
On June 16th, 2019, Mattawan native Jadyn Kequom met with an unfortunate accident. As the Kalamazoo Christian Junior was driving in a wooded area, a large tree fell on her car, the impact of which broke nearly every bone in her face.
She was rushed to the hospital where she underwent a 9-hour operation that ultimately saved her life, but her family and friends know this is just the beginning of a long and painful journey to full recovery.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help offset medical expenses, as well as help the family stay afloat while Jadyn's mother takes a leave of absence from her job to take care of Jadyn full time. Plus, a tee shirt fundraiser has been established with the same goals in mind. The shirts come in a variety of colors (exclusively picked by Jadyn) and feature a logo with a dancer in the middle of a heartbeat and the hashtag #jadynstrong. Shirts are $25 and are available here.
However you can help 16-year-old Jadyn during her time of recovery is much appreciated. If everyone gives a little, her family will have a lot of support to get them through this difficult time.
