If You Care About Local Business In Michigan, Help Save This Community Staple
Casey Warren has a massive heart and an even bigger love for Rugger’s Up and Unders. As she described, it's an integral part of Kalamazoo culture, where all neighborhoods of Kalamazoo congregate.
Anyone who is a regular at the bar knows just how special of a place it has been for so many communities to gather for drinks, food, music, and other entertainment. For so many people in Kalamazoo, this is their spot in the city they love.

But all of that came to a halt when the current buyer made plans to bulldoze, level, and destroy the landmark that has served the community for over 30 years. With things like the new Italian eatery that is opening in the old Boogie Records location, to the new downtown event center, it doesn't look like there's any hope of saving it. But that's not stopping Casey from trying.
In the petition, she pleads with Bill Johnston, CEO of Greenleaf Companies, and Ronda Stryker, billionaire heiress to the Stryker family, to save their local bar:
Bill and Ronda, you have the power to conserve the very essence of the Kalamazoo culture we all hold so dearly. I ask for a donation.
She even carved out a plan of how to make it work in everyone's favor:
Buy the 2 million dollar plot, both Up’s and Bunca car wash, off the current buyer. Then, give a down payment of $100,000 - $200,000 to a future business owner who wants to take over the building that is currently Rugger’s Up and Unders.
If you want to contact Casey about her mission to save "Ups," you can send in a request here. As of now, Ruggers is set to close on March 15th, with a farewell party planned for March 14th, and the last call is from 11 am to 2 pm on March 15th.
