Pokémon Fossil Museum Bringing Real/Fake Pokémon Fossils A Short Drive From Michigan
The world of Pokémon has been and most likely will always be a massive thing, ever since it debuted in 1996. Today, the world of Pokémon has never been more hyped, with the massive resurgence and demand for the physical card game.
It’s gotten so out of control that people are Literally digging through the boxes while vendors are trying to restock the shelves, and even sometimes getting into fist fights over children’s trading cards.

Violence aside, the popularity of Pokémon continues to grow as a worldwide phenomenon. That’s why it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that there is an actual Pokémon museum with Fossils coming to a museum a short drive away from Michigan.
How is that even possible when Pokémon aren’t even real?
It turns out that the Pokémon company will be bringing a Pokémon fossil museum to Chicago’s Field Museum in May 2026. The exhibit features plastered Pokémon fossils, closely resembling the Pokémon they belong to, and compares them to ancient life forms whose real-world fossils have been found, as the museum explains:
During your visit, you’ll see vibrant Pokémon models side by side with extinct lifeforms from the Field Museum’s collection — including scientific casts of Field Museum dinosaurs like SUE the T. rex and the Chicago Archaeopteryx next to Fossil Pokémon like Tyrantrum and Archeops. How many differences (and similarities) will you spot, Trainers?
The Pokémon Company and Toyohashi Museum of Natural History have even put together the ability for you to take the tour online, in this virtual tour of the exhibit.
