Psycho Beach Party at Kalamazoo Civic Theatre
Part '50s beach party romp, part psychological thriller. It's like if Alfred Hitchcock directed Gidget. Or if Jason Voorhees replaced Frankie Avalon opposite Annette Funicello. It's Psycho Beach Party, an over-the-top dark comedy at the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre's Parish Theatre, running April 5th through April 14th.
The story follows 16-year-old tomboy Chicklet Forest, who desperately wants to be accepted by the tanned, beautiful in-crowd of the Malibu beach scene in 1962. Which one of her many personalities will win them over? The elderly talk-radio hostess? Steve the male model? The va-va-voom Ann Bowman? Gosh, it's hard to be a teen! I'm sure it goes without saying that this show is for mature audiences.
