Southwest Michigan has some of the highest gas prices in the entire state.

Over the last few months we’ve seen gas prices skyrocket throughout the entire state of Michigan, with the upper part of the lower Peninsula currently having the highest averages in the state, with some counties having an average gas price of five dollars per gallon, but in Southwest Michigan the majority of the counties are suffering from gas prices that are sitting at an average of about $4.90 per gallon.

An interactive map that was created on May 4 showed the current gas price averages at the time in Southwest Michigan seem to be having a pretty rough.

The cheapest gas averages land in Calhoun County, which had an average of $4.87 follow closely by Eaton County, which had $4.89. However, all other counties in southwest Michigan are sitting at an average of $4.90 at least.

This includes Kalamazoo County with an average of $4.95, Cass County with an average of $4.95, Saint Joseph County with an average of $4.95, and the highest currently landing in Barrie County with $4.96.

As the date that the interactive map was created, Oscoda County in the northern part of the lower Peninsula has the highest average gas price, landing at five dollars per gallon.

There’s no telling how long gas prices will remain this high, but this report, according to averages that were given by AAA  on April 4, shows that we may be on the verge of seeing an even higher increase to our gas prices. Let's hope they come down soon.
