Genesis

Peter Gabriel has dedicated his solo career to looking forward, but for a few moments during the final stop on his tour with Sting, he treated fans to a chapter from his past.

Before I got into radio, I enjoyed playing piano and saxophone.  I haven't touched either in nearly 20 years.  Over the weekend, I got the urge to play around with my old keyboard.

Over the past year I have become a big fan of Peter Gabriel era Genesis.  I am too young to have seen the original band live. Thankfully there is a great tribute band called, The Musical Box. Over the weekend, I had the chance to see them live in St. Charles, Illinois (Outside Chicago)  at a small theater called The Arcada.

I've mentioned this in a couple of post over the past few months but I've really been listening to a lot of older Genesis.  Not only the Peter Gabriel era, but the first few albums featuring Phil Collins as the lead singer. I recently picked up a copy of "Foxtrot" and have come to appreciate the guitar work of Steve Hackett.  One of the more under appreciated guitarist out there.  Today

I have been on a big Genesis listening spree of late.  My current favorite of their's is the album,"Selling England By The Pound".

This weekend was a great weekend to catch up on some movies.  I was lucky enough to have a free preview weekend for all the major movie channels.  I Loaded up the DVR and watched a couple of Rock related Films.

For the longest time I have had this song stuck in my head, no clue why probably because I've been listening to Genesis a ton.  The song is called "Watcher of The Skies" from their album, "Foxtrot".

The upcoming BBC documentary 'Together and Apart' will be paired with another film called 'Sum of the Parts,' set for release in November on DVD, to form a comprehensive history of Genesis.

A few weeks back Genesis announced the release of their new set called, "R-Kive"  which will be out on September 29th.  Ever since they announced the release I have been listening to a lot of Genesis.
