They specialize in Dole Whip desserts, but Tiki Pineapple offers a full menu of fresh food and snacks.Their fourth franchise will be opening soon in Portage.

At first glance, the idea seems to limited of a business model: a store championing Dole Whip desserts and soft serve ice cream. After glancing at the menu, I'll be eating those words- and just about everything else.

Tiki Pineapple promises "no guilt ice cream time" with dairy free, cholesterol free, gluten free soft-serve ice cream and Dole Whip smoothies. They have locations in Burton and Midland, and will be opening soon in Traverse City and in Portage at the corner or Oakland and Centre.

Dessert first at Tiki Pineapple. Their specialty is the Ultimate Sundae, with vanilla, chocolate and strawberry Dole Whip ice cream over a sliced banana topped with
pineapple, sliced strawberry topping, hot fudge, whipped cream, crushed nuts and a cherry. They also have 10 flavors of soft-serve ice cream, hand spun milkshakes and dairy-free smoothies made with Dole pineapple juice instead of yogurt.

The food menu has wraps, flatbreads, sandwiches and bowls, and they say, "we use the highest quality fresh ingredients we can find purchased locally to ensure you always get what you expect and deserve." They also have Michigan-made Great Lakes Chips and Brix bottled beverages, made in Michigan from pure cane sugar.

So, it looks like Tiki PIneapple is going for a taste of the tropics with a Michigan twist. We can't wait to try it.
