A town famous for fish may now have a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest brown trout. No, that's not a euphemism, either.

Troutarama is a big draw to the small town Baldwin every year, and now, they've constructed a piece of art to cement their reputation for being one of the best spots for fishing.

Ivan Iler, a St. Johns, Michigan artist was commissioned to create a sculpture of the one that got away; a purposeful move by the town to draw more tourism to the area. 9 & 10 News talked with Baldwin's Downtown Development Authority Chair Jane Allison,

Everybody likes to see the greatest, largest, biggest items and so why wouldn’t you want to turn the corner and stop and see the world’s largest brown trout sculpture and then stop and eat and shop and look at the other sites that this little community has to offer.

-Jane Allison, Baldwin DDA

Artist Iler did the research and found the world record for a  brown trout sculpture was 20 feet in length; he then set out to stretch it a little. It's a fish story everyone will brag about for generations.

The fact that everybody here really loves this and they’re really excited about it and they’re going to be doing all this landscaping and putting all this into it. It’s the passion about it, it’s the excitement about it, it makes it more than worth it.

-Ivan Iler, sculptor

The sculpture was installed on May 6 and submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records for verification.
