Turbo Chicken in Portage Are Closing...Then Opening Down The Road

The next time you visit the Turbo Chicken location at 5234 on Portage Rd In Portage, they indeed will no longer be there. This was an announcement made by the owners themselves in a Facebook post, that had the entire following community in shock:

Can you believe it? We’re coming up on our 4-year anniversary! It’s been an amazing ride, and we couldn’t have done it without our incredible customers & amazing staff. Now, we have some news to share… we’re closing our doors on Friday, September 28th…

This had everyone stunned. That is until they scrolled down just a bit to find out this was just a tease from Turbo Chicken:

It’s true, our last day at THIS location will be 9/28, but don’t worry—we’re moving just down the street! We’re SO excited to announce that the new Turbo Chicken will be opening at 5252 Portage Rd, less than 400 feet away! This summer’s road construction was no joke, but now that it’s behind us, we’re ready for a fresh start in a bright, shiny new space!

They really had us going there, but luckily one of the area's most popular locally-owned chicken restaurants will continue to grow and thrive through the recent economic struggles.

From everything from the pandemic to the lengthy and mass construction projects, it's been a tough time for all locally-owned businesses, but there is light at the end of the tunnel, and hopefully, the city can continue to do everything it can to provide assistance for businesses that are struggling.

New West Michigan Restaurants 2024

More than 20 new restaurants, including authentic Mexican eateries, brunch joints, African-fusion restaurants, juice bars, Italian spots and more have opened so far in West Michigan in 2024.
