There’s an urban legend about a former slaughterhouse in Utica, Michigan, that is said to be haunted by the spirits of pigs that were slaughtered there.

The rumors of the slaughterhouse go back to when Utica Packing was shut down and closed its operations. Many people say that although operations were shut down, you could clearly see remains left behind in the abandoned slaughterhouse.

At one time, Utica Packing was the largest pork processing plant east of the Mississippi. Haunt Tracker once detailed the rumors of this place

An old abandoned slaughterhouse that has been boarded up, and a barbed wire fence has been erected around it. If you get past the fence and through a broken loading door, you can see blood stains and bones on the floor, also you hear voices and pigs squealing from rooms in the back and eerie noises from the offices upstairs.

One woman actually remembers being inside the slaughterhouse as a kid, and it completely changed the way she ate for the rest of her life, according to one Facebook post that was dedicated to memories of the old building:

Utica Packing was one of them - off of Utica Road near VanDyke, up the way from the Lockerroom if I recall. My dad knew the owner and did some work for him. I went there with him when I was 14 and saw how hot dogs are made and haven't touched one since.
Sometime in the early 2000s, the building was torn down, leaving only rumors and memories of the once fabled slaughterhouse.
