It was a perfect Saturday morning that turned into a perfect afternoon in downtown Kalamazoo for the second annual .1K, benefiting Hospice Care of S.W. Michigan.

Hundreds of "runners" turned out to "run" this grueling test, and I, for one, was thoroughly exhausted. It may take a full year to recover and be ready for the third annual .1K — but it's the sacrifice I'm prepared to make for one of the most fun events on the calendar.

The "race" itself was hilarious with the costumes and the sarcastic attitudes, and afterward, we gathered to exchange the horror stories of what we had to put our bodies and minds through to accomplish this amazing feat.

Thanks to everyone who came out. And, remember, run camp starts tonight.
