Do you remember when West Michigan Avenue heading into downtown Battle Creek was paved with bricks?

This historic image comes from the collection of the Library of Congress shows the Michigan Avenue Bridge over the Battle Creek River. The two tallest buildings in the city, the Heritage Tower and Battle Creek tower loom overhead.

Michigan Avenue Bridge Then and Now

Today the Michigan Avenue bridge is paved with concrete, however the historic look of brick is preserved along the sidewalks that line the bridge as well as the blocks through the "gut" downtown.
