Michigan Ranks Ninth For The Best Trick-or-treating Spots
Michigan has some really nice neighborhoods where you can go trick or treating and get a really good amount of candy on Halloween.
Even though Michigan has seen an increase of trunk or treat events taking the place of trick or treating, Michigan still ranks is one of the top 10 states in the country to go trick-or-treating.

I can speak from personal experience that when I was a kid, the neighborhood that I lived in was a pretty large subdivision. I distinctly remember an older man who, every year for many years, would give away full-size Snickers candy bars with silver dollars taped to them.
That’s probably the best treat I’ve ever received on Halloween night. There must be many others subdivisions or neighborhoods that have just as good of a turnout for treats, as one company, Kuru Footwear recently ranked the top 10 states for trick, or treating, using the following to determine the outcome of their list.
Our rankings are based on five data points that reflect both fun and safety. We factored in things like walkability, pedestrian fatalities per 100,000 people, and the percentage of children in each state, along with Halloween weather and Google search trends data.
Where Does Michigan Rank As The Best State To Trick-or-Treat In?
Overall Michigan ranked 9th in the Top 10 list, as they go into detail about their pick:
Michigan brings plenty of Halloween spirit, with strong search interest and 20.8% of its population under 18. Average Halloween temps hover at 49°F, giving families a crisp backdrop for candy runs. Yet safety remains a concern: Michigan has the second-highest pedestrian death rate in the top 10, a reminder that extra care on the streets is just as important as costumes and candy.
This feeds more into the weather, but I know we have some rich neighborhoods in Michigan that deal out some serious candy bars.
